Longleat Club Campsite in Warminster is one of the network's most unique locations - where else in the UK or Europe can you hear lions roaring at night from the comfort of your bed? Set in beautiful parkland, the campsite is located in the midst of the lovely Longleat Estate. The area's famous Safari Park, first to be opened outside Africa, is literally on the doorstep of the Longleat Club Campsite. It's just a 5 minute walk directly from the site to Longleat House and Longleat Safari Park if you prefer not to take your vehicle, and you can buy tickets at Longleat's back gate or buy in advance online at Longleat.

There are several pubs within a 2 mile radius (a lovely walk on a summers evening) and a short drive will bring you to the lively towns of Bath and Bristol. The Roman, Regency and 20th century Bath being a special favourite for visitors touring in Wiltshire. Still famous as a spa, you can take to the waters and literally soak yourself in history. With winding streets and pretty listed buildings, Frome is about 15 minutes from the site. Several fascinating nearby sites of historic interest include Stonehenge, Avebury Neolithic monument and Lacock Abbey.

Please note that Longleat are not able to accept dogs within the grounds or attractions. There are other beautiful walks also available from the Club side of the road that members can enjoy freely and at their own leisure.

Directions

Follow sat nav to The White Hart pub (postcode BA12 7PH) then follow the brown tourist signs to the site. Alternatively, turn left off the A36 Warminster bypass (Salisbury - Frome) at the roundabout onto the A362 (signposted Frome). In about 0.5 mile at the roundabout take the A362 (third exit) to Frome. After 2.25 miles turn into Lane End next to the White Hart pub. Continue past the Safari Park Entrance and Stalls Farm before turning left again. The site entrance is 200 metres on left. This is the only permitted entry route for caravans and motorhomes. Please note that estate routes may change in the case of a special event. Note: When using sat nav for directions to the site, please use the postcode BA12 7PH ( pub at Lane End on the A362), and follow the brown direction signs to site. If coming from the Warminster direction on the A362 please do not attempt to take the first left after the Royal Oak pub as this lane is far too narrow.

Lovely site

Longleat Club Campsite
April 2024 We stayed for 2 nights here as we had to have our caravan serviced in Westbury on one of the days. The site was very well maintained and clean. Check-in was very straightforward and we had plenty of pitches to choose from all with good access for our 8m long caravan. From start to finish the staff were very helpful. We had an issue with the electrical connection to the car and the warden Mark went out of his way to assist with the issue. Loved the dogwalk. So nice to have a pretty walk with the dogs through the wood with the bluebells out. Very peaceful, great to hear birds and animal noises instead of traffic! We will certainly be back for a longer stay. One of the best sites we have stayed at.

A Good Campsite

Longleat Club Campsite
The campsite at Longleat is in a great location for the safari park which was our main reason for visiting, other than the safari park it is a bit cut off for other facilities though. We went over the Easter bank holiday, the site was full, my husband had to queue for a shower, the facilities seemed a bit on the tired side, and dated but they were very clean. It did rain a lot, and the facilities were used a lot, so by the time they were due to be cleaned the next day, they really needed it. The site at night was very dark, there weren’t many lights about, I know the Club is trying to be environmentally friendly but it made it really difficult to first of all find a pitch and then try to set up. I know the club are trialling the peg system but again it’s difficult when it’s pitch black and raining with very little light. The play area was disappointing, our daughter was really looking forward to it but it needs updating really, and for the amount of children on the site it’s really small and it was just full. There were also older children kicking footballs round it, not the campsites fault but annoying when you have a toddler. The staff were friendly, and helpful, the site is noisey at night from the safari park, the sealions don’t stop all night, and the safari vehicles are up and down from early in the morning on the road next to the campsite. Phone signal is impossible to get, and the wifi was very poor as well, but didn’t expect it to be brilliant as it is so far out. Overall a nice site, well maintained, clean but it does need some updating. I have read that the lease is due to end on the site soon, and unfortunately you can tell, such a shame as it’s so handy for the safari park.

Festival of Light stay

Longleat Club Campsite
We used the campsite during the Festival of Light this weekend. It was brilliant, the location is right on the park, so no trekking from the carpark or queuing to get in or out of the Safari park. We were able to head back to our motorhome during the day to relax whilst waiting for it to get dark so we could enjoy the festival of lights rather than having to hang about on the park in the cold and wet. On the campsite all the staff were extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful. The toilets were immaculately clean and tidy. We will definitely visit again.

TLC required

Longleat Club Campsite
Fantastic location. Peaceful, with the exception of listening to the wildlife from Longleat. This is, of course, an attraction of the site. Poor WiFi but gives you the chance to switch off. Facilities very dated and in need of refurbishment. Warden said lease is ending soon so no investment which is such a shame. In particular the disabled facilities need a review though I was able to discuss concerns with the site warden. Clearer information regarding access road to the site would be useful as the road feels more like a country track than an access road. Nearly turned around!
